Saint-Lary Celebrates 70 Years: A Special Anniversary Season
Founded in 1957 at the initiative of Mayor Vincent Mir, Saint-Lary ski resort celebrates its 70th anniversary during winter 2026/2027.
Its history is closely linked to the Aure Valley, major hydroelectric projects, the development of thermal spa tourism and the growth of skiing in the Pyrenees.
Since its creation, Saint-Lary has welcomed generations of skiers and seen champions grow up, including Isabelle Mir, Xavier, Paul-Henri and Victor De Le Rue. Over the decades, the resort has continued to develop, with new ski lifts, non-ski activities and sporting competitions.
This anniversary will be one of the highlights of winter 2026/2027. Guided tours of the village and ski resort will offer visitors the opportunity to explore its history, from its beginnings to the transformation of the village.
A wonderful opportunity to rediscover Saint-Lary and its mountain heritage!
Les Merlans: A New Walking Trail and Sledging Run
This winter, Saint-Lary ski resort is expanding its range of activities for families and non-skiers with new facilities at Les Merlans.
Near the Les Merlans mountain restaurant, a new 2 km walking trail, with just 100 metres of elevation gain, will allow visitors to enjoy the mountain scenery without putting on skis.
Suitable for families, this walk will offer a new way to experience the mountains in winter, right in the heart of the ski area.
Another new feature is a sledging run, the resort's second, which will complete the facilities. Sledges will be available to hire directly on site.
With its mountain restaurant, walking trail and sledging run, Les Merlans will become a meeting place where skiers and non-skiers can get together and enjoy time in the mountains.
