GR 10 and path to Compostela

Randonnée GR10 Pyrénées

Experience life-size hikes in the Pyrenees

Two long-distance hiking trails cross our two valleys labelled "Land of Art and History". First of all, the mythical GR 10 which links the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. Its part on the territory of Pyrénées2vallées makes you cross the Néouvielle nature reserve then the col d'Azet before finishing in the Louron valley, near the thermal waters of Loudenvielle. The GR 105 is a secondary route to Santiago de Compostela. Many pilgrims cross the Aure valley from north to south, visit UNESCO listed sites and then continue their great walk in Spain. Don't forget to bring a topo-guide to fully enjoy your hike on the Pyrenean hiking trails.

GR 10: Cross the Néouvielle Nature Reserve

The GR 10 enters the Pyrénées2vallées in Néouvielle, by the pass of Madamète. In front of you, a magical environment: the sparkling waters of the lakes, the pine forests with hooks and the discreet marmots. Pass between the twin lakes of Aubert and Aumar and then go around lac de l'Oule. Continue your journey on the north of the Saint-Lary ski resort, with a breathtaking view of the upper Aure valley. You then arrive at the charming village of Vielle-Aure where you visit the Saint-Pierre d'Agos chapel and its church Saint-Barthélémy. Also discover the village of Sailhan and the Moulin de la Mousquère, the ideal place to eat at midday.

GR 10: Big jump in the Louron valley

Cross the mythical Col d'Azet and you are in the Louron valley. Between two days of hiking, go and recharge your batteries at the spa centre of Balnéa, the largest in the French Pyrenees. Around the superb lake of Génos-Loudenvielle, enjoy many activities: mountain biking, swimming in Ludéo, or skiing in Peyragudes and Val Louron. Make an absolute first paragliding experience on the slopes of the Louron valley, which is one of the most beautiful spots in the Pyrenees! Also discover Loudenvielle, an iconic village in the Louron valley and its Arixo cinema museum. Take your road again on the GR10 towards Oô and its famous lake, to the south-east. It is the end of the GR 10 in Pyrénées2vallées.

GR 105: From the Aure valley towards Compostelle

Follow in the footsteps of pilgrims by following the path of the Aure valley, a secondary road to Santiago de Compostela. 3 to 4 days of walking are enough to connect the Lortet to the Spanish border, ideal for a week's holiday in the Pyrenees! Arrived at Lannemezan, leave the Piedmont road and head south! You then cross the whole valley of Aure. On the way, you will discover exceptional sites and villages: the marble tradition of Sarrancolin, the medieval village of Arreau and its protected architecture, the authentic village of Saint-Lary, and finally Tramezaïgues, the last French city before crossing the border. You will not be able to miss the two sites classified by UNESCO as Paths to Compostela: the Chapel of the Knights Templar of Aragnouet and the St. Lawrence Church of Jézeau, both essential places on your pilgrimage.
