Many treasures to discover

"Pyrénées Aure-Louron" has been one of the 40 "Grands Sites Occitanie" since 2018 and joins the exceptional sites of Lourdes, Gavarnie Cauterets-Pont d'Espagne and the Pic du Midi as a must in the Pyrenean chain. Our two valleys are rewarded for their rich natural and cultural heritage: the medieval village of Arreau, the 70 lakes of the Neouvielle nature reserve, the Aragnouet chapel and the Jézeau church classified by UNESCO... This regional label seeks to reinforce the attractiveness of these remarkable sites and to preserve them through numerous investments. You who are looking for unique experiences in the Pyrenees, you who want to discover the Pyrenean way of life and its preserved authenticity, you are in the right place. Let's review what makes this territory a magical and highly prized place. Welcome to Pyrénées2vallées!

A natural setting in the heart of the Pyrenees

Visiting Pyrenees2vallées means enjoying large mountain areas on the edge of Spain, discovering a unique setting to express all your desires... In short, experience the life-size Pyrenees! Beyond its superb pine forests and plains with 1001 colours, our destination offers you two nature reserves, two magnificent sites as a playground for magical hikes in summer and winter. Explore the Neouvielle National Nature Reserve and its 70 lakes, shining like sapphires amidst granite peaks. The 4 main lakes can be visited in a single day of hiking, you will be amazed! The pure high altitude air and a superb view of the peaks of the Aure Valley are your travel companions. Not bad, huh? A little further north, discover the Aulon regional nature reserve. Immerse yourself in the pastoral tradition in this preserved natural area with its rich Pyrenean fauna and flora. Stay even one night in the reserve, the ideal place to observe the stars and the Milky Way: Aulon is classified as an "International Dark Sky Reserve" (IDSR). On your return to the valley, recharge your batteries on the shores of Lake Génos-Loudenvielle, fish on the banks of the Neste à Arreau... or go directly up to the top to discover the mythical passes of the Tour de France on foot or by bike: Aspin, Portet, Peyresourde...

Discover its exceptional Pyrenean heritage

Due to its natural isolation, "Pyrénées Aure-Louron" has managed to preserve its rich cultural heritage that we have the pleasure of contemplating today. Here, you don't drive a kilometre without seeing the bell tower of a church, a castle or a watchtower. Of the sixty or so sites, 20 are open for visits. Don't miss the 2 sites classified by UNESCO as Paths to Compostela: the 12th century Chapel of the Knights Templar of Aragnouet and the St. Lawrence Church of Jézeau with its medieval paintings under vault. As you stroll through the 46 villages of the Pyrenees2vallées, you will inevitably pass through Arreau, the former capital of the 4 valleys. You will immediately notice the remarkable architecture of its buildings, protected since 1995 by an architectural and landscape heritage protection zone (ZPPAUP). It covers the entire municipal territory and invites everyone to discover the many wonders of the village: the 16th century house of the Lys, the castles of the Nestes and Segure, the hall of the 1930s... We have just mentioned a small part of the buildings to be discovered: during your stay in our beautiful valleys, you may encounter the castle of Genos on the heights of the homonymous lake, the Tour du Moulor, the Saint-Bertrand de Comminges church...
