Visit the sublime Templar Chapel

In the hamlet of Le Plan d'Aragnouet, do not miss visiting the Chapel of the Knights Templar. This former 12th century hospice with its Romanesque architecture is located on a path to Compostela. It was held in the Middle Ages by the religious of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem to welcome pilgrims and travellers. The Templar Chapel is now classified and protected by UNESCO. Alone or accompanied by a guide from the Ancizan Cultural Centre, visit this splendid religious building all year round.

Piau-Engaly resort

Less than 10km from the heart of Aragnouet is Piau-Engaly, the highest resort in the Pyrenees at 1860m. Its exceptional snow cover, its freeride areas and its slalom piste make it a reference in Pyrenean skiing. Voted "the snowiest resort in the world" in 2015, the resort of Piau-Engaly offers you a large ski area with 65km of slopes and more than 1200m of altitude difference! And every year in March, show your riding skills during the great timed race of the Derby des Pyrénées.

Cap-de-Long and Orédon lakes

The Néouvielle National Nature Reserve includes 2 majestic lakes on the territory of Aragnouet: Cap-de-Long and Orédon lakes. To reach them, nothing could be easier. In Fabian, a small hamlet of Aragnouet, the D929 rises to altitude and becomes the "lake route". You arrive at Lake Orédon, in an unbelievable setting. Recharge your batteries and picnic by the bewitching blue waters. Continue west to Lake Cap-de-Long. This 110 ha glacial lake is remarkable for its dam completed in 1954, which replaces the old dam of 1908. You are here at an altitude of 2160m, on the edge of the Pyrenees National Park. Enjoy grandiose hikes to discover the mountain landscapes via paths accessible to the whole family.

Aragnouet-Bielsa cross-border tunnel

The municipality has privileged access to Spain via the Aragnouet-Bielsa cross-border tunnel. Opened in 1976 and 3km long, it connects the Aure Valley to Aragon.
